Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically supervised program that helps improve the health and well-being of people who have heart problems.

Our program is conducted over a course of 12 weeks with 3 sessions per week (36 visits total). A session typically lasts for approximately 1 hour and includes a warm up and a cool down in conjunction with aerobic and/or resistance exercises with continuous heart rate and EKG monitoring. Blood pressure is also monitored before, during, and after exercises. To ensure safety we do not schedule more than 5 patients for Cardiac Rehabilitation program to be treated at the same time. Physician is always on premises during the Cardiac Rehab program.

Who needs Cardiac Rehabilitation? Cardiac Rehabilitation is for you if your medical history includes:
  • Heart attack
  • Coronary Artery Disease
  • Chest Pain (Angina)
  • Stents placement
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (reduced blood flow to your limbs)
  • Cardiomyopathy and other heart related conditions

Benefits and Risks

Cardiac Rehab has many benefits:
  • It allows the patient to resume a normal, active, and productive life
  • It reduces the risk of future heart problems.
  • It decrease pain and the need for medicines to treat heart or chest pain

Very rarely, physical activity during rehabilitation causes some problems. These complications may include injuries to your muscles (strain), ligaments (sprain) or heart rhythm abnormalities.

But you have to remember that physical activity is safer in the rehab setting than at home. Members of our rehab team are trained and have experience. They will watch you to make sure you are safe. They will check your blood pressure several times during your exercise training. Most patients will exercise under continuous heart rate and EKG monitoring to see how their heart reacts and adapts to exercise.

Cardiac rehabilitation programs increase your chances of survival. Both the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology strongly recommend cardiac rehabilitation programs.

How to Get Started?

To get started, a patient must have initial examination by one of our physician and a low-level exercise stress test. The exercise test is to assist in personalizing an exercise regimen and to ensure that you can tolerate a certain level of exercise without complications. Rehab activities vary depending on your condition. Your program will be customized based on your heart related condition, fitness level and other medical limitations that may affect your participation.
